Today i woke up early... I can say now that it was definitely too early.
I don't know if it was the stupid humid/stink filled room or just a fall back into routine, either way I took full advantage of this and did some laundry Harlem style... bathtub rinsing followed by some true rooftop style air drying. Wait.. before all of that, basically immediate post wake-up, I made some stellar green tea and went up to the roof with the laptop and did some browsing. Life above the Harlem streets is great... there was some sort of ghetto rock band playing somewhere in the near distance... it did the trick
I believe at about 2pm, about 6 hours after my awakening, the rest of the crew rose to the glorious 99% humidity day. After a while of procrastination we decided on heading out in search of the magnolia bakery to taste their fabled cup cakes. We never ended up finding the place... but it's our own fault because we left without google-mappin that shit and based our adventure on a collection of New Yorkers directions. Along the way we crossed through Times Square again, turned out that we were there at the perfect time... the Sunday biker crew rolled through while we were there... it was LOUD. Probably 100+ street bikes reving through Times Sqaure at about 9000rpm.... deafening. I should also add that there was a quad that rolled through with the crew... definitely not an everyday occurrence. I can't figure out how that guy got away with driving the quad on the street, especially considering New York's finest has a station right on the corner and they were out in full force. Whatever... it was badass either way.
We grabbed some good eats from some local grocery store and ate it in the shadows of some sweet building in a mini-park. It was a great meal. After that we ventured through the south part of central park... it was alright
We headed home after central park. On the way back we grabbed some ice cream from a grocery store and some beer from the local corner store. We drank our beer half on the gazeebo and half on the roof.... this time I picked up some Heineken and Ryan got some Miller... Sheen and Brandice couldn't step up to the plate tonight... noobs
Then the roof party started. First it was Brandice, Ryan and I and then Sheen came up with my laptop and brought some tunes. He then dissappeared to invite some people to join us on the roof. Withing 30 minutes the roof was bumpin. The German schoolteacher started telling some hilrious dutch pedophile jokes... they were a big hit. The girl from Amsterdam and I chatted for a bit on top of the rooftop stairway protrusion.... we discussed life and how giant and surreal it actually is... she's a great person; she's into photography, she obviously rules. After a couple of hours of bullshittin etc I decided to leave the party while it was still sorta hot... a classy move i might say. Who am I kidding... i left to come down here to the living room to type these words for you to read. 2:15 in Harlem, great time to get to sleep... especially if tomorrow is: skateboarding, magnolia cup-cakes, central park John Lennon memorial, CONAN, late night cityscape photos and potentially an all night rage.
New York I love you, but it's time to rest so I can take you down tomorrow
